Combat, Vehicles, & Gear — How Battle Is Evolving in Chapter 2

One of the biggest draws and complaints of Dune Awakening Items has always been how visceral, tense, and brutal combat feels. In this blog I explore how Chapter 2 shifts the balance in conflict—what weapons, armor, and vehicles are now bringing to the table, and how playing the fight game will feel moving forward.


New Weapons & Gear

Chapter 2 introduces at least one major new weapon: the Adept Missile Launcher. This adds to the variety of ranged options and shifts some power curves, especially for players who favor explosive or high‑damage playstyles. 

Completing Advanced Trainer Contracts now gives exclusive armor sets specific to each trainer, plus a customization item that allows other armor of the same type to be styled accordingly. And if you’ve already done the contracts, you’ll get them retroactively. This both rewards long‑term players and gives newcomers better gear options. 


Vehicles: Buffs, Behaviour, and Tactical Impact

Combat in Dune: Awakening is closely tied to vehicles. Chapter 2 adjustments aim to make vehicles more reliable and meaningful in fights:

  • Assault Ornithopter gets more storage (slots and capacity), so players can carry more loot, supplies, or weaponry into battle zones. 

  • Rocket behaviour fixed/improved: ornithopter rockets are more accurate; they now explode at their life’s end; they now shoot toward aim rather than weird trailing or under‑aim positions. 

  • Vehicle HUD improvements: warnings when locked on; better camera behaviours, especially using one‑handed tools as passenger. Better clarity in battle, especially in vehicular duels or when dodging missile threats. 


NPC Changes & Enemy Behavior

Enemy AI and behavior have been refined to make fights more consistent, challenging, and fair:

  • NPCs’ bonus accuracy buildup time significantly reduced. This means you can’t stay hidden forever; stealth is harder, but encounters are more dynamic. 

  • NPCs should now activate shields when they see you, harder to surprise or bypass them with purely aggressive tactics. 

  • Targeting improvements: especially for melee soft lock targets, abilities like Bindu Nerve Strike work more reliably. 


Balancing PVE vs PVP

Chapter 2 also clarifies how combat is handled in PvP and PvE zones:

  • If you die in a PvP location, you always use PvP respawn rules, even if you picked PvE at load‑in. Similarly, in PvE locations, spawn timers obey the spawn point’s rules. 

  • Spore sort of mixed: projects like easier aiming, better lock‑on, and accuracy improvements will impact both PvP and PvE; however, much of the balance in PvP depends on how weapons & vehicles behave under these new rules.


How Gear & Skill Matter

The new armor from Advanced Trainer Contracts, new weapons, and the refinements in aiming and targeting, all push forward a more “skill + setup” approach. Previously, sometimes power came more from luck or exploit of odd behaviours. Now:

  • Good aim, good positioning, knowing when to use rocket lock‑on vs manual aim, knowing your vehicle’s vulnerabilities, all matter more.

  • Utility of vehicles in combat is enhanced, especially armored or rocket‑using ones. But also, they are Buy Dune Awakening Items  more vulnerable when locked on or targeted by attention systems.
