What the Re‑Customization Doesn’t Change — Myths, Misunderstandings, & Reminder of Base Limits

With the excitement about recustomization in Dune Awakening Items for Sale, there’s also a lot of confusion. Some players expect more than what the system offers, others believe things that aren’t yet possible. This blog lays out what recustomization doesn’t change, clarifies myths, and helps set expectations properly so you can plan wisely.

What recustomization does not affect

  • Name: Once your character’s name is set, you cannot change it via the recustomization clinics.

  • Starting class / Mentor or Archetype: You can’t alter your chosen mentor archetype after creation. Your class‑based starting benefits, abilities, etc., remain.

  • Homeworld & caste for dialogue / lore outcomes: Those narrative/background choices don’t change even if you alter your appearance. The story tracks you as that background, whatever you look like.

  • Stat or gameplay mechanics tied to appearance: Appearance is purely cosmetic. The recustomization doesn’t affect combat stats, armor values, movement abilities etc.

Common misunderstandings & myths

Myth / Expectation Reality
“I can change my name after this update” Nope — still not allowed.
“I can change my mentor or class via appearance” No — that remains locked to your initial choice.
“Everything is free now / no Solari requirement” False — there is a fee (5,000 Solari) to recustomize.
“I can get all tattoo/hair styles even if I haven’t unlocked them” Some styles are locked until you unlock them via contracts or progression. Not everything is immediately available.

Why these limits exist (from a design / balance perspective)

  • Preserving player identity: Homeworld, caste, mentor have story & lore implications that would break consistency if changed freely.

  • Avoiding exploitation: If class / branding changes were allowed, unintended gameplay or social exploits could arise.

  • Economy & progression: Cosmetic unlocks serve as rewards, so locking them behind progression keeps players engaged.

What remains to be added / possible future expansions

  • More cosmetic options (hairstyles, tattoos, color palettes) are expected in future patches. Chapter 2 added several, but player feedback indicates desire for more.

  • Improved body type diversity: Some players have noted lack of extreme variation in body shapes or certain customization sliders (e.g., ear types or torso proportions) are limited. Perhaps future patches will address these.

  • Possibly name change options in future, if requested enough by the community.

Conclusion
While recustomization offers more freedom than before, there are meaningful limits still in place. Understanding what you cannot change is Buy Items just as important as what you can. This helps you set expectations, avoid frustration, and plan your cosmetic evolution through the game more thoughtfully. Dune’s world is harsh and unyielding; even identity has its boundaries.
