Unlocking Re‑Customization — Where & How to Change Your Character in Dune: Awakening

When Dune Awakening Items for Sale rolled out its Chapter 2 update, one of the most requested features finally landed: character re‑customization. That means if you don’t like how your hero looks anymore, or you want to refresh your style after grinding through Arrakis, you don’t have to start over. But it won’t unlock automatically for every player — there are places to find, NPCs to meet, and fees to pay. Let’s walk through how to unlock the feature, where to go, what to expect, and what you can change.

What was added in Chapter 2

  • Chapter 2 brought many new features & content, including dynamic encounters, new armor sets, and character re‑customization.

  • The re‑customization allows you to alter your character’s physical appearance, including hairstyles, tattoos, and color palettes.

  • There is a fee in in‑game currency (Solari) for making appearance changes.

Where to find the Re‑Customizer and related NPCs

To use the re‑customization, you’ll need to go to one of two social hubs:

  • Arrakeen City — There’s a “clinic” in Arrakeen, often referred to as Dr. Shaffat’s Clinic. It’s located near the Lansraad Vendor in the southern section of the social hub. From there, a hallway with stairs leads up; look for a large holographic head and follow signs to the clinic.

  • Harko Village — The other vendor is Fleshshaper Phraxx. This NPC is behind the Guild Bank and near the Vehicle Vendor. Like in Arrakeen, a floating holographic head helps mark the clinic.

How to unlock re‑customization

  • After the update, these vendors don’t just automatically enable the service. You’ll need to discover the clinic’s location in the hub (i.e. physically travel there) so the location becomes “unlocked.”

  • Sometimes there are contracts tied to discovering or interacting with these NPCs. Alternatively, you can just head to them if you know where they are; the contracts just serve to introduce players to the system.

What you can change — and what you can’t

Here’s what the re‑customization feature includes:

What you can change:

  • Hairstyles (including four new hairstyles introduced in Chapter 2)

  • Tattoos, including new tattoo styles and tattoo tinting (allowing you to change the color tones)

  • Full color palette choices in many cosmetic features (hair, tattoos, etc.)

What you can’t change:

  • Your name: renaming characters is not possible through the recustomization vendor.

  • Your starting class / mentor choice: that remains as it was from the beginning. You can’t change your mentor / archetype via appearance.

Cost & usage rules

  • It costs 5,000 Solari to use the re‑customization service each time.

  • The service is free in the sense of being part of the game (i.e. not paid DLC or microtransaction), but you need enough in‑game currency.

  • You can preview many of the options before committing & paying the fee. This helps ensure you like appearance changes before they are applied.

Tips to make the most of recustomization

  • Wait until you’ve unlocked new cosmetics / styles via gameplay before re‑customizing: sometimes you’ll gain more tattoo styles, hair styles, or color palettes later. If you change too early, you may feel limited.

  • Bring the Solari: accumulate enough Solari so you aren’t caught short when you want to change.

  • Experiment with tinting: changing not just the style but the color can make a big difference.

  • Use the clinics in both hubs to compare what you prefer; the environment & lighting may differ, helping you see what looks best.

Conclusion
Character re-customization in Dune: Awakening is a long-awaited feature that's now live, giving players the chance to adapt or re‑imagine their hero without starting from scratch. By knowing where to go, who to talk to, what can be changed, and how much it costs, you’ll be ready to Buy Items remix your appearance whenever the itch hits. In the harsh deserts of Arrakis, sometimes a new look is just as good as a new weapon.
