Spotify is finally bringing lossless HD audio to its Premium users, allowing music to be streamed in FLAC format up to 24-bit/44.1kHz. First teased in 2021, the long-awaited feature preserves every detail of the original recording, delivering a richer listening experience.

The rollout is gradual, with over 50 markets expected by October 2025. Premium subscribers in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Australia, Japan, Netherlands, Sweden, and other countries are already receiving access. Free, ad-supported accounts will not have this feature.

Previously, Spotify’s highest-quality audio used the lossy AAC codec at 320 kbps, which is significantly lower than FLAC. Streaming Lossless audio requires more bandwidth and storage, making Wi-Fi and wired headphones the best option. Bluetooth devices cannot fully support Lossless audio due to compression limitations.

How to Enable Lossless

Open the Spotify app and tap your profile icon.
Go to Settings → Media Quality.
Select Lossless for Wi-Fi, cellular, or downloads.
A Lossless badge will appear in the Now Playing bar once enabled.

Device Support
Lossless audio works across mobile, desktop, and tablet apps, as well as on many Spotify Connect devices from Sony, Bose, Sennheiser, Denon, Marantz, Bluesound, and Yamaha. Additional support for devices like Sonos and Amazon is coming in October.
